Dental Insurance Review

I have had to use my dental insurance many times. My husband and two daughters also use the insurance too. Our last trip to the dentist was having my seven year old get her teeth cleaned and my eighteen month old get her teeth checked out for the first time. The insurance was no issue at all. Everything was set up from the moment I made the appointments. I do suggest doing this, contact your dental office and set up an appointment and give them your insurance info over the phone. The dental office may have time to contact your dental insurance office and get all the paper work straight and verify benefits. This will prevent any hassles for you in the future.

My last visit to the dentist was not my favorite, but I had to have my wisdom teeth removed. This meant scheduling an appointment with an oral surgeon. I first had to have a visit with my regular dentist to check everything out. Then I had to set an appointment to get the wisdom teeth removed. I contacted the oral surgeon that my dentist had referred me to and made an appointment. It took about two weeks before the oral surgeon was ready for me to come in. Once my appointment was set and the day had come I went into the oral surgeon's office. They did give me anesthesia, only because I requested it. I am not sure how they would normally remove wisdom teeth from an adult, but anesthesia was something I had to have. My anxiety would have been through the roof had I been awake for the procedure. The oral surgeon removed all four of my wisdom teeth, and then shared with me a list of things not to do and things okay to do. Sent me home with a prescription for pain medication and made a follow up appointment. It took me two weeks before I was back to normal. During the duration of this event happening to me, my dental insurance took care of most of the bill and I only had to cover 20% which was only a little over $100. Our dental insurance plan only cost our family around $75 a month and I think it's agreat value.
